Delaware County EMS is proud to have a dynamic medical leadership team led by Dr. Ashish Panchal, Medical Director, and Dr. Nicole McAllister, Assistant Medical Director. Both physicians are deeply committed to advancing patient care and improving outcomes in the prehospital setting.

Dr. Ashish Panchal brings a wealth of expertise to the department, with a research focus on prehospital airway management and improving survival rates in cardiac arrest patients. His dedication to excellence and innovation drives the ongoing growth and effectiveness of our EMS providers, ensuring the highest level of care for our community.

Dr. Nicole McAllister complements the leadership team with her extensive experience and passion for prehospital medicine. She is actively involved in fostering provider education and advancing clinical care standards, ensuring that Delaware County EMS remains at the forefront of emergency medical services.

Together, Dr. Panchal and Dr. McAllister play a pivotal role in shaping the future of EMS in Delaware County, inspiring our providers to excel through training, research, and a shared commitment to community care.

Dr. Ashish R. Panchal, MD, PH.D.

I am a Professor of Emergency Medicine for the Department of Emergency Medicine. I’m passionate about improving patient outcomes in the prehospital setting and conduct research focused on prehospital airway management and improving outcomes from cardiac arrest. I began my career as a researcher completing a PhD in cardiovascular physiology at Case Western Reserve University. Following this, at The Ohio State University College of Medicine, I completed my medical training and residency. Currently, I’m heavily involved in prehospital care being the EMS Medical Director for Delaware County EMS and the Delaware County Dispatch Center. At The Ohio State University, I’m the program director for the ACGME-accredited EMS fellowship. On a national level, I’m the research and fellowship director for the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians and am part of the expert panels for the National EMS Scope of Practice Model Revision Project and the Evidence-Based Guideline for Naloxone. I’m also a member and past chair of the American Heart Association Emergency Cardiovascular Care Scientific Subcommittee and was chair of the 2020 AHA/ECC Guidelines Focused Update for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiovascular Care.

Dr. Nicole McAllister, DO

I’m an Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine at The Ohio State University in the Department of Emergency Medicine.  I have had the opportunity to train and work in multiple states and systems, and I appreciate the variability in medicine.  After completing my residency in Emergency Medicine in New York during COVID, I completed my fellowship training at The Ohio State University in EMS.  I stayed on as faculty and currently work in the emergency department and prehospital setting. 

Currently, I am active in many aspects of prehospital medicine.  I am the assistant medical director at Delaware County EMS and the medical director of Clinton Township Fire Department.  With a recent interest in disaster medicine, I have also worked to become a physician for the FEMA Urban Search and Rescue Team Ohio Task Force 1.  After finishing my fellowship, I remained a faculty advisor, helping train fellows and residents interested in prehospital settings.
