Before Starting CPR
- Call 911 and get the AED (can be done by someone else)
- 911 dispatchers can instruct you on how to help
- Is the area safe for you?
- Check if the person is responsive
- Check if the person is breathing
If unresponsive and not breathing normally, START CPR!
No Training? Do Hands-Only CPR!
Hands-Only CPR
- Push hard and fast on the center of the person’s chest
- Give 100-120 compressions a minute (to the tune of “Stayin’ Alive,” by the Bee Gees)
- As soon as the AED arrives, turn it on and follow the audible instructions
