Captain Joe Farmer

Captain Joe Farmer graduated high school in 1995 from Lakewood High in the Cleveland area. After figuring out what he wanted to do he enrolled to EMT school at Columbus State Community College and became and EMT in 1998. He started Paramedic School in 1999 where he also became an EMT-intermediate in the same year. After Graduating from the Paramedic Program at Columbus State Community College in 2000 he worked for Stofchek Ambulance Service.

He was hired in November of 2000 part-time with Delaware County EMS and became full-time shortly after the first of the year in 2001. He was promoted to Crew Chief in January of 2003 and Lieutenant in 2004. He was promoted to Captain in November of 2011 and currently is in this role on 3-Unit.

Throughout his career with DCEMS Captain Farmer has had a passion for educating first responders of all levels. He is currently our State of Ohio Training Site Coordinator, AHA Training Center Coordinator for BLS and ACLS, State of Ohio ITLS Chapter Region 1 Coordinator, a PEPP and Gems Course Coordinator and an ASLS lead instructor as well as a State of Ohio EMS instructor. He has spoken at Ohio conferences and other educational offerings.

Captain Farmer resides in Lancaster with his wife and 3 children.
